Pride and Prejudie

Pride and prejudice

This story called my attention due to the topics that are been touched by the author Jane Austen. Such as love and/ or social class, traditions and customs in the past, feminism and of course pride and prejudice.

In that age getting marriage was a must. Women did not have the right to choose if they wanted or not get married so the story shows how important was getting marriage with a rich man even though the woman was not in love. Keeping a high social class appearance was a very important aspect that many women were looking for through marriage.

Some traditions and customs they had at the time really caught my attention. For example that women were seen as angels and the family ties but they had a big task. They were submissive to what their men said or treated them. It is interesting that now days we still keep some of those customs they had. Many people is still been dominated by their lover or we still see how men is like the “ king “ of the house and his wife such as the mother, the housekeeper, the worker, the loving and the one who supports the family.

The tale shows how Elizabeth represents revolution of women and feminism. Through the story it is shown how she requests “to have her own space at home”. The author show us that women also deserve the right to have privacy, respect and that women are as strong as men.

Other feature that called my attention about the story is that the protagonist Elizabeth had the tendency to judge people just by the first impression. It happened when she met Darcy and she just hatted him because of his pride. As the tale continues, they fall in love and they both change their attitudes. She overcomes her prejudice and Darcy his pride.
