practicing a sonnet

Trying to live day by day is what I care about

It doesn’t matter what others think

It doesn’t matter what others say

All they say can go to the sink

Being myself is what makes me feel alive

I would never let you put me down

Because I am made of steel and hard metal

Nobody can make me breakdown

Approaching to freedom is my new rule

Floating in the sky is what makes me feel

Enjoying every minute of my life is my worldview

And being freaky is what I enjoy the most

I am going to live my life like there is no tomorrow

I won’t live in sorrow I will live day by day

PD
I admit this is weird
but I tried :)

Gulliver’s Travels

Gulliver’s Travels

1.     Who was Jonathan Swift? What is he best known for?

Jonathan Swift (30 November 1667 – 19 October 1745) was a satirist writer, poet. He is remembered for his works such as Gulliver´s Travels, A modest Proposal, A journal to Stella, Draper’s Letters, The battle of the books, An argument against Abolishing Christianity and A tale of a tub

2.     What literary period does he represent?

He represents satire in the 18th century British society. Through his works he expresses deep dissatisfaction to society. He tries to reform social class and politics. He also tries to inform and illuminate society about moral.

3.     Define Satire.

Satire is a way of irony. It can be used to critize society´s ignorance

4.     Why do you think Swift used this genre?

He used satire because he was in disappointment with society. He was complaining against his enemies and civilization.

He did not believe in the adoration of the science as everybody in that age used to consider.

Swift was a moral man and he was just denying the political control. He was

Surprised that population was easy to convince also, they were being ignorant and fool. So Swift was trying to leave a message to society to stop with politic games.

5.     What do you think Swift's view of humanity is? Do you agree with it? Why or why not?

He can clearly see that humanity is losing their essence. He expresses his hate against what he believes is not correct in a grotesque way. I agree with him because in this age we are in the same situation as those days. Many people is unware about corruption, laws, poverty, wars and how a small group of millionaire people is controlling our world. We need to reject that, we have to stop being passive and ignorant. We need to do a change. That’s why I love the way Swift criticizes all of that.

6.     What do you think the controversy between the Big-Endians and the Small-Endians represents?

They had issues according to religion. Big endian represent catholic against little endians who were protestant.

7.     What do we learn about the Lilliputians with the knowledge that they believe no other kingdoms exist except those of Lilliput and Blefuscu?

What I can learn about that is that some people need to be stop thinking their country is the best and inform about what is going on in other parts of the world. There is a lot of hanger , war  and violence that many people do not care about.

8.     Why does Gulliver have such a strong reaction against the Yahoos when he first sees them?

Because yahoos are filthy, they are deformed animal which nature ever produced. They are malicious and indocile.

9.     Who are the Struldbruggs? Are they happy to have eternal life?  Why or why not?

The Struldbruggs are doomed to eternal life. They are not happy with that because they are not eternal youth. They are in continuous decay.

10.                       What was your favorite voyage in the story? Why?

My favorite voyage is when he meets the Lilliputians. That calls my attention because this small people thought they were big to be corrupt, envious and hypocritical. I can compare that with what I see around my world. Many people is so ignorant believing they can treat others bad and they are just small in this huge world.
