Define Romanticism
This was an artistic and
intellectual era. This movement put emphasis on freedom, emotion and imagination.
Through art people could express their feelings. They would rather paint rural
places than urban ones. Nature , landscapes ,cathedrals, sun shines were the preferred
paintings in that time.

Who was Mary Shelley? What
were her contributions to Literature?
She was an English novelist
writer. She is known for one of the best known gothic novel: Frankenstein. One of her contributions to literature
was to create the most memorable monster Frankenstein. Her parents also left an
important legacy for liberalism and feminism.

How did Frankestein come
about?
It reflects the family´s life.
Mary and her sister Fanny had a big depression because of their mother´s death,
also due to the stepmother who was completely different as their mother. Besides,
the loneliness and indifference of their father. Frankenstein is a monster who
is alone and abandoned by his creator, the same as Mary who was alive but her
mother was death.

Briefly discuss Frankestein's
plot.
A man named Victor
Frankenstein was a scientist who born in Switzerland. He made a lot of studies
of how to make a person alive. He created a monster that become his worst
nightmare. Times goes and Victor forgot about his creation until the day that
his sister is murdered. He thinks that the monster was responsible for that
crime so Victor starts to look for it desperately. He finally finds him and the
creature have learned many important information such as how to read, how to
survive in the hills and cold and he already know that human beings do not like
him. This monster tells Victor that he have been miserable, lonely and he needs
him to create another creature for him to share. So Victor agrees with the
creature but in the moment when Victor is in the laboratory he gets scared that
the new creature could be even more devil than the other so he destroys the
work but the creature saw what he did. Furious, he swore revenge. Weeks later,
Victor married Elizabeth Lavenza the women who he has always been in love with.
After that Elizabeth appeared death by the creature. Victor looks everywhere to
kill the creature but in a trip he dies. After that, the creature cries in
Victor´s coffin and then he dies.

What themes are present in
this novel? Explain
The relative indifference: it
shows how the creator of a creature refuse to love and help what he has done.
Death: the death of people
loved is shown as something that hurts and destroys welfare.
Guiltiness: it is described
when Victor´s relatives die, he feels devastated and guilty because of the creation
of a monster.
The harshness: it is reflected
when people mistreats the monster which is reflected in Mary´s life by her step
mother.
